American cup shops have been on the increase in the United States for years, and it looks like the trend will continue.
The US Department of Agriculture has found that the number of US cup shops has grown from an estimated 5,000 in 2000 to almost 33,000 today, according to the Associated Press.
Many of the cup shops cater to the affluent, with customers ordering the most expensive items first, the AP reported.
The AP also reported that sales of imported brands, such as Costa Coffee, have increased in recent years.
The number of American cup stores has also increased significantly over the last decade, with more than half of all US cup stores opening in the early 2000s.
The growth of American cups has been driven by the popularity of cupcake and other sweet treats, as well as the increasing popularity of online stores such as Etsy, the Associated News reported.
According to the AP, the number is expected to continue increasing.
