US football has always been a very American sport.
But the sport has been increasingly popular around the world, with the likes of Australia’s soccer stars including Robbie Keane and Wayne Rooney among its top names.
In 2004, the US Soccer Federation (USSF) introduced a series of regulations aimed at reducing the number of players on the field, including a mandatory mandatory four-hour rest period during matches and a ban on diving.
As a result, the number and diversity of players in the US increased, and with the sport reaching a global audience, it was seen as a necessary step in a long-term process of improving the sport in the country.
It was also a necessary one, as US Soccer players were seen as being among the best in the world.
But in 2005, the World Cup of 2005 took place in the United States, a tournament that was played on grass.
At the time, the sport was in the middle of a decline, with US men’s and women’s teams having won just two of their previous nine World Cup games.
Despite a dip in the popularity of the sport, the USA still had the highest number of teams in the World cup, and even had two American players on its final roster.
However, after the US lost in the final to Germany in the quarter-finals, the governing body felt that the World Cups could not be played on turf, and had decided to introduce a rule banning the use of artificial turf in all games.
The US Soccer Association (USASA) then decided to implement a change in the rules, which meant that the use would be limited to one-on-one matches.
“It’s not like we were trying to turn a corner on the game or anything,” USSF vice president for communications and community relations Joe Stanchfield said at the time.
The change was quickly embraced by the sport’s governing body, and the USSF set up a new competition, the American Cup.
There, US teams competed against their nearest competitors, who would then compete in a series, the final of which was played in front of an audience of more than 1.3 million people in New York.
To date, the competition has held the highest attendance in US sports history.
But, according to the USASA, the new rules only applied to the men’s teams, meaning that only one American player would be allowed on the pitch at a time.
The new regulations also meant that American players would be forced to wear a US flag shirt, which they would then have to remove once the match had started.
This prompted some to suggest that the US could be seeing the beginning of the end of the American cup.
US Soccer President Bob Foose, however, said that the new regulations were “in line with our history and traditions”.
“This is a great step forward for the US men and women and I know we’re going to have great success,” he said.
“We have a lot of history here, a lot to work with and we’re not stopping.”
“The American Cup will be one of the most popular events in the history of the game,” Foose said.
“We’re looking forward to bringing the US soccer community together for a celebration of the spirit and the history that makes the game great.”
The USSF is now hoping that the American Dream will not die with the World cups, but that a new one will once again return to the country and provide the sport with a chance to prove its worth.
